It's good to see the club working hard together. Everyone having the same set of goals made this possible.

Looks like the tournament is approaching so no doubt other rivals while bringing in the competition. I'm still curious to see how much they develop the relationship between Chika and Satowa. It's slow but progressing.

So he wasn't able to do sports because of breathing trouble i am guessing Asma which a few of my friends had when i was growing up.
And i don't recall them being bullied because of it anyway i don't think having a weak body should have much influence on your friends.
I don't think people who judge you on your body can't be called friends.

Still it's seems his view an people is pretty pessimistic.

They set the stage pretty high tho and the other clubs will have to perform really well to outdo them.

Awwww poor little Ousuke! I'm so happy he found Asa-chan because it's hard to find a friendship like that!

That was the best backstory yet, it felt really genuine. I wish all the best for Ousuke in the future, maybe Asano will get to know his feelings and he won't be as cold-hearted any longer.

I'd imagine that we get the warm sound from our group in contrast to the ''cold'' here. I can't wait.

Honestly all the koto snippets and performances give me chills.

I LOVED that look and blush on Kurusu's face when Kurata thanked her, that was pure bliss ;_;

The first half was really wholesome, with Kudou and Takezou perfecting their duet thanks to the "advice" from their advisor, which turned out to be really useful because Kudou is just that precious and took him seriously and it worked, and with Kouta being able to play that part he had trouble with well. It was also nice to see Kurusu encouraging him, and then sharing a nice moment with Takezou when he thanked her for making this training camp possible. I also like how it was Kouta who could express with words what he felt about the piece they are trying to master. It's poignant, with the ephemerality of time and all, but also moving, a really nice theme! And there was also that little moment between Kudou and Houzuki in the club room too.

Then Ousuke! I wasn't sure about him when he first appeared during that joint practice back in Meiryo, but now that we got to hear his performance, and also got his background story, I have to say that I'm impressed. It's kind of poignant, really, that he got this good and this far while being afraid of being left alone at his core, but it's also kind of cool. I thought that Asano, his childhood/first friend, would have been able to truly help him overcome his insecurities, but he is still very much afraid, and it's relatable. But well, they are young and they still have time to truly connect. The "winter comes" part reminded me of House Stark lol, and I can't wait to hear our team's performance, but I guess we might still get to hear Himesaka, and even others, play before them.

I loved the playing in this episode! It was more chilling than I expected; the visuals and narration actually helped me hear the piece with a certain emotion attached to it (instead of just listening and thinking it was beautiful, haha).

I always want more koto music, but I actually think this was a perfect amount... I imagine a four movement piece like this would take what, 30 minutes? Maybe a bit less if they're in high school...? (Does anyone know if this song is an actual traditional piece, or if it was created for the sake of the show? I tried looking it up, but didn't find anything.)

@Fayrin, I really like what you said about Ousuke's performance. It's also a really nice contrast to our main characters--Chika and Satowa especially. They both started out alone, but are able to get a clearer sound from learning to open up, whereas Ousuke's skill and sound are almost completely dependent on the walls he's built... Obviously Meiryou is a really powerful ensemble, but drastically different dynamics from the one the narrative is about.

Can we show some love for that Takezou x Hiro moment though! That was a good scene. But yeah the best part was that Houzuki x Chika moment. THAT EMBRACE!!!!

Second half took a serious turn. I would be more interested if the "Rivals" episode for next week focused more on Hoozuki and Ousuke being rivals then Chika and Ousuke.

Houzuki even said she couldn't compare to him and if she wants to be the best and get better she is clearly going to have to surpass Ousuke.

oh man I forgot about this part from the beginning. THIS BROMENT!

Well, no wonder Ousuke was so happy to see some bros, but there's way more to him. I already liked him and his enthusiasm for koto when he first appeared two episodes ago, but this backstory and the way how his play reflects him as a person sold his character to me.

Meiryo hype was real.

More Chika x Hozuki moments. It became my OTP ^.^

Ousuke took my heart <3 It's good to know that, despite being a byoukidere, there was something he could do and that made me feel very happy ^^ he's very talented!

Great episode! The performance of Meiryo was something else. "Hyakkafu" is a very beautiful piece :)

Despite the teachers advice being a means to avoid responsibility it sure had quite the interesting result. While the moments of fun can be fleeting its important that they take advantage of it while its still here. Its nice to see things are going so well in the prep though. That little moment between Takezou and Hiro was pretty cute. Its nice that in the end the camp was a success in more ways than one. Meriyo's performance though was as impressive as always. The insight into Ousuke's childhood though was quite interesting with how his ability to bring out the strengths of others being especially so. With his ability it looks like Meriyo would be quite the fierce opponent for the club in the festival. A solid ep as always that while doing well in wrapping up the training camp also showed just how much of a challenge they would face in the festival.

Wow! The preliminaries began strongly.
I loved the mini story of Ousuke and Asa ❤.
I am happy to see that the training camp of the Koto Club paid off. They only have to improve more and find their own sound to make them theirs. They must manage to transmit the piece of music to the public to qualify for the tournament. It will not be easy.

I already see some romance between Houzuki and Kudo: 3.

Another great episode.
The training camp has finished and it did it in a good way, everyone learned something and now they're more united, in both they're music and they're friendship; after this we move to the tournament, Ousuke was interesting enough, but with this backstory he's even more, an cruel but realistic trauma with which is easy to empathise, now he's a complex character and it seems that's gonna be using that in advantage of the story.
Both Takezo x Hiro and Chika x Satowa are pretty sweet ships, but the first is too subtle yet, it's still begining, meanwhile the other has already gotten some development and is much more clear with its moments, so I don't expect too much from the Takezo x Hiro in this season, that's gonna take some time.

So the training camp has come and gone by, with everyone making substantial improvement.

Dat momentary Chika and Hozuki moment. Lights up my life definitely.

And comes the competition. I swear the Meiryo peeps that we've seen before are more fired u0ndoe this. And the Prince himself Ousuke still feels like a comedy, while his true self is remarkable.
And they did. The school pumps out songs that change in variety, but that's because of one person: Kiryuu Ousuke.

His life, is one of somber feelings, and carried by Asano Izumi, the feelings carry over to their song. The one thing that the anime missed over the manga is his pale and colourless world (not the eyesight part), but it's not all that important. What is, is how his upbringing affects his playing, and it's super effective. NOW THAT'S the standard of a superior and experienced school club.

Part 1/3 of the competition, and wrapping up Season 1 before Season 2 in the Fall. Definitely expecting more now!

Damn, this made me remember how genuine Ousuke's backstory felt when I read it in the manga. He's a good guy at heart. :)

Another good episode.

Ousuke's backstory was both interesting and sad at the same time. Probably the most "genuine" backstory I have seen in this anime so far.

Meiryou's performance was also outstanding. They have settled a pretty high standard for the following schools so now, let's see whether Chika and co. will manage to impress the judges as well or not

How Kurata thanked Kurusu in the beginning felt like they were kinda forcing this ship over Kurusu x Kota, which they kinda had in ep 10
Not opposed by it.. Kurata x Kurusu > Kurusu x Kota

Ousuke's like some psycho lol
His backstory is pretty negative tho. Smoll kids can be such assholes.
Good thing he has Asa-chan

I have to say tho... That koto ensemble was crazy. It always feels a bit off that school clubs are that advanced tbh, like.. Idk how they portray it in Anime doesn't seem far from reality but.. If that's the level of high school students.. Then at what level are professional adults? I always ask myself that

Eh? But that's Meiryo, an elite school which goes to the Nationals, while your school is literally never heard of in that field...except maybe when Grandpa started the club, he might have made a splash on the Regionals but I'll never know since I wouldn't be bothered to look it up. LOL

Maybe I don't understand the teacher as much as I thought. Also what was that foreshadowing with Houzuki, is something bad going to happen? All in all, it was a nice training camp.

We got another moment with Chika talking to his grandfather which are always good. And then another foreshadowing?? They must really love this, because what was the old lady referring to.

Even if I can see them, I still don't want romance in this anime so I like that Chika is never blushing or anything like that. It's funny how he doesn't care about that.

Ousuke definitely seems interesting, that was a nice backstory.
