You know sometime I figure I'm gonna have to draw something other than people standing facing right.
Like... People standing facing left.
Guess it's a good option for these refs though. Here's that fox again, now with a slightly redesigned outfit. I've been messing around with hairstyles a little as well, both are included here.
As a side note I've started scaling images down on FA so that they don't display as huge. If that causes any issues while viewing the posts, feel free to let me know.

Love, love the outfit! The baggy pants covering most of the boots and the turtleneck sweater, so nice. Also the different hairstyles!
As for facing left, there is literally several pieces in the "More from phosfen" in the side bar, "Character sketch 2024-11-23", the sketch pages have facing left as well.

Well dang, I guess I'm gonna have to think of something to draw besides characters facing right and left. Wonder how I'll manage that.
Thanks though! It's a cold, cold world this character's a part of, so she's gotta dress properly. I figure the pants are secured down around the boots to avoid snow getting over the top of the boots and into them.

Part of art is intentionally creating irregularity. Like the general concept of stretch and skew in animation to generate extra motion with cartoons. Consider taking things to an extreme to capture some of the raw essence of whatever you experiment with, and then once you're able to do that, you can incorporate it in small scale with average pieces.
That's not to say throw anatomy out the window but to generate action or emotion sometimes things have to be turned into caricatures of themselfes.

You know, that's a great idea. I'll have to try that sometime soon. I probably do fall into the trap of symbol drawing sometimes, relying too much on a sorta rigid idea of a character and stumbling when I've got to put them in a more dynamic situation. Thanks for the tip!
